Mrs. Erin Barry

First Grade

Mrs. Barry’s first 10 years were spent in Gillette, WY, but she grew up (for the most part) in Southern California. She has 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She is a triplet with her brothers.

As a child, she knew that she wanted to be a teacher. She watched her brothers struggle with school all through childhood and knew that she wanted to be the kind of teacher to help and love on those students.

Mrs. Barry attended Concordia Irvine and graduated with an BA in 1999 and an MA in 2005.

She taught in Long Beach, CA for 9 years and taught a mixture of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade during that time. After that time God called her to St. Louis. She spent 5 years there and taught a mixture of 1st, 2nd, and 5th/6th grade. God has now called her here to Toledo and she loves being back in first grade.

Mrs. Barry believes that everyone learns differently. She knows that her job as a teacher is to find the best way to help her students to learn, while instilling the excitement to be a life long learner. Most importantly, being called to teach in the Lutheran Schools is an absolute honor to her…She loves having the privilege to teach her students about God and how much He loves us!

Mrs.Barry favorite Bible verse is: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Some of Mrs. Barry’s favorite things are spending as much time as she can with her husband Matt, snuggling with her dog Spackle, being outside, cooking, reading, and other crafty things.
