Ms. Mary Anne Hibbard

Minister of Music

Mary Anne Hibbard was born and raised in Sturgis, Michigan.  She started piano lessons at age six and pipe organ lessons at fourteen, becoming an assistant church organist at fifteen for Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis.  She studied music at Glen Oaks Community College and Western Michigan University.  She completed her Bachelor of Theology at Concordia University – Wisconsin.  She has served in churches in Michigan, Illinois, and now Ohio.  She has served as Hospital Chaplain at Coldwater, Michigan and assisted in developing the county hospice there.  She has served in short term missions in India, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Panama, Kyrgyzstan, and Palestine.  She has been a part of a team introducing Christian hospice, or palliative care, in southern India, Kenya, and Kyrgyzstan.

Mary Anne is the mother of three boys, Rob, Larry, and Andy – and grandmother to two grandchildren (Rob’s).  Mary Anne enjoys biking, hiking, swimming, and jet-skiing – and scrap-booking memories from such activities with her family.  When she finds the time, she is currently learning to play the cello.  Mary Anne has previously rehabbed two historic homes, but is enjoying a carefree rental for now.

Her favorite aspects of ministry are working with people and working as a team providing the opportunity for worship.  She is very much enjoying the student music at Trinity Lutheran School and thoroughly enjoys both the traditional and contemporary worship at Trinity.

Favorite quote:

From the Christmas eve liturgy: “When all was still, and it was midnight, Your almighty Word, O Lord, descended from the royal throne.”  (This is from an ancient liturgical portion.  I find in this an expression of an expectation – almost holding one’s breath – until something amazing and wonderful beyond words – happens!)

Favorites Bible passages:

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.  He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.” Hebrews 1:1-3

And

“Oh, give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!  1 Chronicles 16:8
